The town of Alnwick lies in the heart of some beautiful countryside, which includes the historic Capability Brown-devised parkland which surrounds Alnwick Castle itself.
Northumberland Estates owns and manages much of this land, so to encourage visitors and the local community to enjoy it, a number of circular routes have been devised on Estate owned land in the Alnwick area.
Hulne Park, once the hunting grounds of the Percy family, is one of the most popular walking routes.
There are three varied routes - Walk 1 (4 miles), Walk 2 (6.2 miles), Walk 3 (4.7 miles)., as per the map image. Expect to find parkland, Alnwick Abbey, a Priory and farmland. There are some great viewing points for stopping for a picnic or a hot flask of tea.
And of course, the best way to enjoy these walks is with one of our fantastic pairs of Grisport boots and a Barbour wax jacket. Pure heaven in an outfit!
Hulne Park is open between 11am and 5pm on most days (please check the website for dates when it is closed for shooting parties). Dogs and bicycles are not permitted.
Enjoy!
